Animal protein consumption among rural households in Kwara State, Nigeria

Abstract


The main objective of this study is to examine rural households’ animal protein consumption in Kwara State. The data used for this study were obtained through a three-stage random sampling technique. Multiple regression analysis was used for this study. The study shows that household size and food expenditure are the significant variables affecting animal protein consumption among rural households in the study area. This study suggests the need for rural households to adopt modern family planning. Besides, it also recommends that rural households should be assisted to diversify their sources of income from agriculture.
